Background
My Story
Mental health has always been more than a career for me — it's a calling rooted in service, compassion, and a genuine desire to help people find clarity during some of life's most difficult moments.
As a Middle Georgia native, I've had the privilege of serving the community that helped shape me. Before specializing in psychiatry, I worked in long-term acute care and critical care nursing, caring for medically complex patients during the most challenging moments of their lives. That experience sharpened my clinical reasoning, my attention to detail, and my ability to evaluate the whole person — not just isolated symptoms.
My commitment to clinical excellence led me to earn the Critical Care Registered Nurse (CCRN) certification, reflecting advanced expertise in caring for critically ill patients. It also led me to proudly serve in the United States Air Force — an experience that deepened my appreciation for resilience, sacrifice, and the unique mental health challenges faced by service members, veterans, and their families.
I earned my Master of Science in Nursing from Georgia College & State University, specializing as a Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner. My graduate training, combined with years of diverse nursing experience, allows me to approach mental health care with a comprehensive understanding of both physical and psychological health.
As the founder of S. Jackson Psychiatry, my philosophy is simple: understanding should always come before treatment. Too often, people feel rushed through appointments or reduced to a diagnosis. I believe every patient deserves a thorough evaluation that considers the whole person — not just the presenting symptoms.
