Our Process

We Believe You Deserve to Know What Comes Next

Starting psychiatric care can feel overwhelming. We've designed every step of our process to be clear, compassionate, and centered on you — so you can focus on getting better, not figuring out what happens next.

A Process Built Around You

At S. Jackson Psychiatry, we don't rush patients through appointments or hand them a prescription on the first visit. Every step of our process is intentional — designed to help us understand you fully before making any treatment recommendations. Here's exactly what you can expect.

01

Schedule Your Appointment

Booking is simple. You can schedule online through our patient portal or contact our office directly. When you reach out, our team will help match you with the right appointment type based on your needs — whether that's a new patient psychiatric evaluation, an ADHD assessment, a veteran consultation, or a follow-up visit.

  • Online scheduling available 24/7
  • In-person appointments in Macon, GA
  • Telehealth available statewide
  • Insurance verification assistance
02

Complete Your Intake Forms

Before your first appointment, you'll receive intake forms through our secure patient portal. These forms help us understand your medical history, current symptoms, medications, and goals for care. Completing them in advance allows us to make the most of your appointment time — so we can spend it focused on you, not paperwork.

  • Completed securely online before your visit
  • Medical history & current symptoms
  • Current medications & past treatments
  • Your goals and concerns for care
03

Comprehensive Psychiatric Evaluation

Your first appointment is a thorough, unhurried evaluation — not a 15-minute check-in. We take the time to understand your full clinical picture: your symptoms, history, relationships, functioning, and goals. We ask the right questions, listen carefully, and consider all contributing factors before drawing any conclusions. Understanding always comes before treatment.

  • 60–90 minute initial evaluation
  • Full psychiatric and medical history review
  • Symptom assessment and differential diagnosis
  • Discussion of your goals and concerns
04

Your Personalized Treatment Plan

After your evaluation, we'll discuss our clinical findings and recommendations together. Your treatment plan is built around your individual needs — not a one-size-fits-all protocol. Depending on your situation, this may include medication management, therapy, psychoeducation, referrals, or a combination of approaches. You'll leave with a clear understanding of your diagnosis and next steps.

  • Collaborative discussion of findings
  • Individualized medication recommendations when appropriate
  • Therapy and coping strategy guidance
  • Clear explanation of your diagnosis and plan
05

Ongoing Support & Follow-Up Care

Mental health care is a journey, not a single appointment. We provide ongoing follow-up visits to monitor your progress, adjust your treatment plan as needed, and support your long-term wellness. Our goal is to be a consistent, trusted partner in your mental health — not just a provider you see once.

  • Regular follow-up appointments
  • Medication monitoring and adjustments
  • Ongoing therapy and support
  • Coordination with other providers when needed

Our Clinical Philosophy

Understanding Before Treatment

"We don't believe in rushing to labels or prescriptions. We believe every patient deserves to understand the "why" behind their symptoms before deciding on treatment. That philosophy shapes every step of our process — from the first phone call to long-term follow-up care."

S. Jackson, PMHNP-BC — Founder, S. Jackson Psychiatry
